The Lehigh County GEO Reentry Service Center received some great local media attention recently after the center hosted an open house following its grand opening in February!
The Allentown center is one of eight parolee reentry centers opened throughout Pennsylvania as part of a state initiative to reduce recidivism, lower incarceration costs and enhance public safety.
As The Morning Call article states, the Bureau of Community Corrections or the Bureau of Probation and Parole refers former inmates who need additional treatment and supervision to the center, where they participate in a multi-phase program that includes day reporting, cognitive behavioral therapy and employment-readiness training services.
GEO Reentry Services offers evidence-based programming designed to rehabilitate offenders and successfully prepare them for life after prison, while maintaining public safety. The behavior of parolees is closely monitored with daily check-ins, drug and alcohol testing, and case management.
The open house was one of several planned throughout April for six of the eight centers opened in February.
