A participant at the Merced County Day Reporting Center in California is the spotlight of a local news story for her dedication to turning her life around by attending classes and treatment at the center.
The DRC, which is run in partnership between GEO Reentry Services and the Merced County Probation Department, recently held an open house where they invited local community members and the media to learn more about the reentry program while getting an inside look at how it operates.
ABC 30, out of Fresno, California, visited the center and spoke with Tammy Huerta, a participant who has been reporting to the DRC since April 2017. Tammy told the outlet that the center has helped her learn new skills so she can gain employment, while also helping her learn to cope with her emotions, including the loss of her daughter.
The Merced County DRC provides cognitive behavioral therapy as well as life skills courses and other training so participants can gain a second chance at leading successful and productive lives in their communities.
