Arrica Spearman-Cleasant, a case manager at the Louisville Day Reporting Center, was recently honored as employee of the month by the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. The department awarded this honor to Spearman-Cleasant for her accomplished work at the GEO Reentry non-residential center. Spearman-Cleasant is an on-site employee for LMDC and ensures that daily operations at the Louisville DRC run smoothly.
The Louisville DRC offers an intensive reentry program aimed at helping probationers and parolees create a positive, successful life after incarceration. The center provides services that help program participants live substance-free; introduces participants to educational and vocational opportunities; and connects them with community resources that support a crime-free lifestyle.
Case management is a key aspect of GEO Reentry’s programming and allows participants to receive individualized treatment based on their criminogenic needs. GEO Reentry’s case managers are trained in general supervision duties as well as specialty services, such as drug and alcohol treatment, employment preparation, cognitive skill building and group facilitation. This allows them to serve a diverse set of participants with different backgrounds and circumstances.
As a case manager at the Louisville DRC, Spearman-Cleasant works closely with participants and serves as their main advocate, helping them locate appropriate community resources and ensuring they’re progressing through the program in a timely and successful manner. Spearman-Cleasant has proven to be an effective source of support for participants because she understands the importance of GEO Reentry’s programs as well as the corrections services provided in the local community.
“We are thrilled that Ms. Spearman-Cleasant has achieved this well-deserved honor,” said Louisville DRC Program Manager William West. “We could not run the program without her. She helps make our day-to-day operation a success.”
Spearman-Cleasant is appreciated by both the LMDC and the staff at Louisville DRC. She is an integral part of the GEO Reentry team that helps restore lives and provide a new start to so many.
