The Elizabeth Community Resource Center, a non-residential reentry center in New Jersey, celebrated more than sixty graduates at their recent transition ceremony. The center provides evidence-based reentry programming to male and female parolees.
Robert Kantor of the New Jersey State Parole Board was the keynote speaker at the ceremony and delivered an inspiring message to graduates. Additional guest speakers included former parolees Daniel B. and Chris B.; former client Sameerah D.; and community partner Valeria Seymour, who started the non-profit Beauty for Ashes, which helps those struggling with addiction.
Graduates of the Elizabeth Community Resource Center proudly received their certificates of completion, and each gave a short speech on how much the program and staff helped them establish a positive lifestyle. It was a personal testament of change, hope for the future and pride for the work they put in to have a new life experience. Gift cards for perfect attendance and most positive attitude were awarded. The event ended with lunch and cake.
“We are delighted to see so many past participants leading successful lives after receiving GEO Reentry’s programming at our facility,” said Program Manager Jennifer Volpe. “I have an amazing staff who is willing to go above and beyond to assist participants in changing their lives. Days like this are very rewarding, and we are thrilled to see so many lives on a positive track.”
Transition celebrations are an uplifting day for all, providing an opportunity to recognize the power of reentry programming to change lives and reduce recidivism. The Elizabeth Community Resource Center is proud to have had a hand in helping 60 plus individuals learn the tools needed for change.
