The Santa Ana DRC recently hosted its first “Dress for Success” motivational speaker luncheon on Aug. 12. The event was put together by DRC staff to help participants dress professionally as they seek employment.
Eight participants were taken to Ross Dress for Less, where DRC staff assisted them in selecting clothing to wear for interviews and other professional interactions. “Before” and “after” pictures were taken to show participants their casual-to-professional dress transformations. One staff member hosted a tie-tying session as well.
Back at the DRC, participants discussed what dressing for success meant to them and how they felt about their dress transformations. The consensus was that everyone felt confident and ready to take their interviews by storm. They then listened to a motivational speaker detail his journey from being incarcerated to securing a successful career as a Walmart operations manager.
The event concluded with a catered lunch accompanied by lively conversation about what it takes to get and hold a job.
