Patricia Smith, clinical supervisor of the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Parole and Probation Treatment (ADAPPT) Outpatient program, run by GEO Reentry, was recognized this month for 20 years of service at the Reading, Pa., facility.
Ms. Smith has been an integral part of the program’s operational and clinical team, maintaining many key roles at the facility, which provides evidence-based reentry programming to participants referred from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole.
“We value the important contributions made by Ms. Smith in working with program staff and reentrants,” Michael Critchosin, ADAPPT’s director, said. “Her reliability and continuous support is very valuable to the safety and progress of our reentrants on a daily basis.”
Ms. Smith began her career as a counselor at the Berks County Prison, a program managed by the ADAPPT program. She joined the ADAPPT staff as a counselor and has worked herself up through the ranks to become a clinical supervisor.
“I am grateful for the opportunity at ADAPPT to have developed a rewarding career in treatment counseling,” Ms. Smith said. “I am proud to be part of a staff that is making a difference for recidivism reduction in Pennsylvania.”
ADAPPT Outpatient provides cognitive programming and counseling that contributes to a healthy and productive lifestyle. The facility provides reentrants with programming that focuses on changing addictive and criminal behaviors, offering a secure environment for learning life skills and coping mechanisms that contribute to a successful reentry to society.
